A Little Bit of Stone is taking part in the 4am Project on Sunday 24th April – and you’re more than welcome to get involved in this amazing photographic experiment!
The 4am Project is a great idea. Utilising Flickr, the web space for sharing images, photographers around the world – including in Stone – will be leaving the cosy confines of their beds to create a shared online gallery that illustrates the strange and wonderful life that goes on while we sleep.
The 4am Project captures people’s imagination all over the world. From a standing start, the project now has contributors from around 40 countries, such as Russia, Canada, USA, Australia, Malaysia, Sweden, and Brazil, and has almost 5,000 superb quality images taken at 4am.
A Little Bit of Stone wants to make sure that Stone features among the gallery of photos in this year’s event, the second 4am Project.
Project organiser Karen Strunks from Birmingham said: “Some of the world’s most beautiful photos are taken under the cover of night, but as we’re all tucked up in bed at that time, the moment just passes us by.
“The 4am Project aims to bring both photographers and non-photographers together, to create a global community which demonstrates how amazing our surrounding landscapes can be.
“Streets which are usually teeming with traffic are deserted, shopping centres are empty and hillsides peaceful, the perfect time to grab your camera and take some shots.”
Fancy joining a 4am Project meet-up in Stone? The plan is to meet up somewhere in the town at, you guessed it, 4am (or just before that, to be honest) and to get snapping. We’re planning on doing a short 4am walk to take in some of the best locations around the town. And then we’ll have a fry-up!
You don’t need to be a top photographer or have the latest snazzy camera – just an eye for a good picture and a willingness to do something a bit crazy!
If you’re mad enough to take part, leave a comment below or email 4amproject@alittlebitofstone
