Witness appeal after man, 64, assaulted

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 64-year-old man was assaulted at the bus stop in Crown Street.

At about 5.30pm on Wednesday 2nd November, the 64-year-old was assaulted by two men as he got off a bus from Stafford.

The victim, who is from Newcastle, received facial injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire for treatment.

Both offenders are described as men in their early 20s. One was white, 5 ft 8ins tall with light blonde curly hair and the other was mixed race and 5ft 11ins to 6ft tall. Both men had got on the bus at Stafford.

PC Kate Scott, of Stafford Borough Local Policing Team, said: “This was an isolated incident and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed this assault to contact us. Crimes of this nature are very rare in Stone. Our inquiries are ongoing to locate the men responsible and we will do everything in our power to bring them to justice.”
