A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The CFRs were providing excellent care to the lady when the crew arrived. Together they got her onto the back of the ambulance. The woman had suffered a potentially very serious head injury. She was taken on blue lights to the Major Trauma Centre at the Royal Stoke University Hospital where medics were on standby for her arrival. The woman driving the car was uninjured but shaken by the incident.”

Staffordshire Police officers cordoned off the entrance/exit road to the supermarket from the A34 for over two hours as investigations took place. Shoppers who were stuck on the car park were given mince pies by Aldi staff.

  • does anyone know how the lady fared after her accident ?

  • I use the Aldi car park to pick up passengers on a regular basis and the design of this car park leaves a lot to be desired. There is no drop off/pick up zone. The parking bays are narrow and 90% of shoppers ‘nose park’. This is dangerous because when you have completed your shop you are stressed with the crowding and queueing and spending. You have less awareness of what’s behind you when you reverse out. When you arrive you are less stressed and more aware of what is behind you. Reverse parking is safer for everyone.

    • I totally agree and also the situation is not helped by the numpties that leave the trolleys jutting out in to the roadway just because they are to lazy to put them in trolley bay! I think also the people at aldi who design the layout should think about where they put the crossing. Is on a corner really the best place???? O one last comment why is there no speed limit sign like all other supermarket car parks have!

  • Well done first responders sponsored by fairway service station.
