Work has started on a new aviary for Stonefield Park – and it’s taking shape pretty quickly.
The birds were moved from the old aviary – which had been in the park since 1988 – in October and are currently living in the aviary at Victoria Park, Stafford, until their new home is ready.

Stafford Borough Council carried out a consultation last year to see if local people wanted a new aviary in the park, which is costing £15,000. A new aviary was backed by 45 votes to 1.
The new aviary is 50% bigger, giving the 30-odd birds who will soon be calling it home lots more leg (and wing) room.
There were some great comments on Facebook over the weekend after I posted the photograph above:
Karl Reuter-Rushton said: “I hope they are keeping an eye on costs,I wouldn’t like it to come in over budgie!”
Marie Wilson added: “Has anyone ‘tweeted’ this yet?!”
