Yarnfield resident Ian Noons and Stone business woman Josie Morris have been awarded MBEs in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Ian, who is the Custodial Manager at HM YOI Drake Hall, was awarded his MBE for services to HM Prison and Probation Service, and developing environmentally-friendly alternatives to plastic packaging has resulted in Josie, managing director of Stone-based Woolcool, being awarded an MBE for her work at home and promoting UK trade overseas.
The two are among 23 Staffordshire residents recognised in the birthday honours list. Other honours have been awarded to members of the medical and teaching professions, those helping members of their community during the pandemic and the founder of an international charity supporting those who have lost babies.
Alan White, Leader of Staffordshire County Council, said: “When I see the achievements of those Staffordshire residents who have been honoured by Her Majesty, I am invariably impressed by their spirit, their achievements and their commitment to making the world a better place.
“Staffordshire has many strengths and natural assets, but invariably its biggest is the people who make up our many communities.”
The honours include an MBE to Clifford Stott, a Professor of Social Psychology at Keele University, who is an internationally renowned authority on crowd psychology, whose work with the police and other authorities has included developing policy on managing football crowds and public protests.
Also recognised are a campaigner committed to remembering the horrors of Srebrenica, a building society employee supporting local charities and the managing director of a company successfully developing environmentally-friendly alternatives to plastic packaging.
Moved to action by the loss of five children in pregnancy, Zoe Adelle Clark-Coates, of Tamworth, has received an MBE for her work founding the Mariposa Trust, a charity reaching more than 50,000 people a week in this country and overseas and supporting them through their loss of a baby.
Tracey Maria Johnson has been awarded an MBE for leading the Leek United Building Society’s community response to the pandemic. Work included a fundraising drive to support local charities and organising a programme of bespoke support for elderly and vulnerable customers during the pandemic.
And Stoke-on-Trent resident Aida Haughton has also received an MBE for her work in keeping alive the memory of the Srebrenica genocide and being a powerful advocate against hatred and prejudice.
Mr Ian Dudson CBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, said: “I am delighted that Her Majesty has recognised so many residents, who have made a significant contribution to their community, either professionally, or in a voluntary capacity.
“I would like to congratulate all of these worthy recipients on behalf of the whole ceremonial county of Staffordshire – we share their pride and pleasure in this notable achievement.”

- MBE for Dr John Alexander, of Loggerheads, Consultant in paediatric intensive care at UHNM NHS Trust, for services to critically ill children and young people;
- MBE for Corrine Boden, of Stoke-on-Trent, for services to the community in Stoke-on-Trent, particularly during Covid-19;
- MBE for Barry Michael Bond, of Wombourne, Chair of Governors at Green Park School in Wolverhampton, for services to Education;
- MBE for Julia Catherine Bridgewater, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Group Chief Operating Officer at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, for services to the NHS, particularly during Covid-19;
