New products devised by business-minded pupils from Staffordshire schools will be put to the test at a trade fair in Stone town centre.
On Saturday 12th March between 9am and 4pm, shoppers in Stone High Street will be the first to see the business ideas of the 14 teams who are competing in the 2016 Young Enterprise competition. Novel products on show include goods as diverse as glow red safety patches and bespoke hampers.
Competing schools include Alleyne’s Academy from Stone – whose teams in previous years have a brilliant record – as well as Haywood Academy from Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford Grammar School, Walton High from Stafford, Wolstanton High and Newcastle-under-Lyme School from Newcastle and the Rural Enterprise Academy, Penkridge.

The YE school teams have once again excelled with their inventiveness and demonstrated the business skills needed to develop their ideas and bring them to market. Guests at the trade fair will include apprentices from KMF sheet metal fabrications of High Carr, Newcastle, who will be collecting money for charities, the county Air Cadets and Canine Partners who provide specially trained dogs to help people with disabilities, and there will be a visit by the Michelin man.

The Staffordshire finals will be held at World of Wedgwood on 23rd March, with the winners moving on to the regional/national finals in May and June.[/box]
