The Young Musicians Showcase is proud to announce their first anniversary event at Costa in Stone on Sunday 6th July from 2.00pm.
The first showcase events were held at the Crown Hotel in Stone during the summer of 2013 under the umbrella of Stone Music and Arts Festival Society. They were organised by Ben Owen, local musician and songwriter, and Tony Hollinshead, also a local musician and then vice-chairman of the society. In the autumn of 2013 Ben and Tony formed the Young Musicians Collective to further the work they had started in providing opportunities for local young musicians. They are grateful for the support and sponsorship provided by Stone’s Costa through the manager Beth Lister.
The Collective is an independent voluntary organisation run by Ben and Tony, which, in a world of shrinking opportunities to develop performance skills through the formal education and the youth service sector, has been set up to give young people a chance to perform live and network with other like -minded people. Playing live and developing sound and stagecraft skills are important for any upcoming musician and the collective has been established to support the development of such expertise.
Currently the Collective runs a Young Musicians’ Showcase on the first Sunday of the month at Costa Coffee in Stone from 5.30pm and is turning the 6th July showcase into a celebration of their first year so please join them from 2.00pm for what promises to be a cornucopia of local young musical talent.
