Student’s from Alleyne’s Academy in Stone have taken part in the Young Enterprise competition by setting up their own business for the academic year.
The student’s company, Ignite, sell smart phone holders called the ‘Connect’. The Connect has a ‘docking’ area for the phone to sit on while on charge or playing media.
The product also has a mount for the charger that relieves the stress on the cable in the case of high plugs.
As a result, Ignite won Alleyne’s Academy’s fourth consecutive win at the Young Enterprise Stafford and Stone Finals on Thursday night, held at the Wedgwood Museum, Barlaston.
Ignite managing director Katy Minshull commented on the evening’s result:
We are all ecstatic after last night’s win. We never expected to do as well as we did due to the standard this year being even higher than ever before. We were up against some really powerful businesses but it really shows that hard work pays off. With the county finals just around the corner we just need to up our game.
Ignite has new exciting production plans on the horizon along with many prospective corporate ventures! The team are all looking forward to the final and can’t wait to show off their fabulous work yet again!
Tiers of Joy, a Young Enterprise company from St. Dominic’s Priory School, Stone, were the overall runners up and also commented on the night’s results:
We were nicely surprised by the outcome of our young enterprise experience, and we feel this result represents everything we have worked for over the past months.

The next round is the Young Enterprise Staffordshire finals which take place on May 8th at Wedgwood Museum, Barlaston.
