Zoe’s Great North Run in memory of her mum

Great North Run
Zoe and her mum Jane

Zoe Gregory  is running the Great North Run later this month in memory of her mum and to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

Zoe lost her mum Jane to lung cancer in June 2009. She’s hoping to raise £1,000 for the foundation by taking part in the Great North Run on 18th September with sister Ruth and good friend Xanthe, who lost her mother to breast cancer almost 20 years ago.

Zoe said: “Ruth and I lost our mum to lung cancer in June 2009 after an eight-year battle. She had consulted the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation at various points of her illness and found them to be incredibly helpful. After she died we set up The Jane Miller Tribute Fund with the charity for family and friends to donate to instead of flowers at her funeral.

“We raised a good amount of money for them that way but wanted to do more. So we gained charity places to do the Great North Run this year in memory of Mum and to raise as much money as possible for this charity. Mum would think we were mad for running that far but we know she’ll be with us every step of the way.”

You can help Zoe to reach her fundraising target by donating at her Just Giving page. Find out more about the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation here.
