Snowstorm causes accidents on A34

A female motorist had to be cut free from her car after a double crash on the A34 at Yarlet on Friday afternoon that seems to have been caused by a sudden snowstorm.

The woman was inside one of three cars involved in two accidents and was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire with minor injuries.

The northbound carriageway into Stone was closed between 3.20pm and 5.20pm.

Stephen Morgan was almost caught up in the accidents. He wrote on A Little Bit of Stone’s Facebook page: “It was horrendous. People were skidding all down Yarlet Bank. Some massive hail/snowstorm made it an ice rink. I just managed to avoid hitting the cars that were crashed.”
