Five taken to hospital after A34 crash
Five people were taken to hospital last night after a crash on the A34 at Meaford.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the scene at about 8.10pm on Wednesday 19th September. Luckily for the people involved in the crash, an off-duty consultant who happened to be at the scene also helped assess some of the casualties.
An Audi and a Mercedes had collided in the incident. The driver of the Audi, a man in his forties, suffered only minor injuries and his passenger, a man in his late teens, had a fractured sternum. They were both taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire. In the Mercedes were two men and a woman. All three were immobilised with the use of spinal boards and neck collars and were taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire but their injuries were not thought serious.
An ambulance service spokesman said: “Crews at the scene reported that, despite the apparent seriousness of the collision, all the injuries were relatively minor.”
