If you were in town last Saturday you’ll have seen the Stafford and Stone Young Enterprise trade fair in Market Square. On a really busy day in the town centre – the farmers’ market was also going very strong too! – teams of student entrepreneurs were showcasing (and selling) their products to the crowds.
A team from Alleyne’s High School – Flipt – were deemed the winners on the day after impressing judges with their branding, merchandising and selling skills. Flipt have produced a cookbook with mix-and-match recipes to encourage children to get creative in the kitchen – have a look at their website HERE.
Another team from Alleyne’s are taking part in this year’s competition. Equipo have designed unique, personalised earphone holders. You can see their website HERE.
YE teams run and manage their own companies, exactly mirroring a fully-functioning business, with their own board of directors. Teams have a mentor from a local business who pass on their experience and expertise. All the teams are aiming for a spot in the national finals – but there’s the borough, county and West Midlands stages to get through first.
The trade fair on Saturday is just one part of this year’s Stafford and Stone competition.
The teams from Alleyne’s this year are up against Walton High School, Weston Road Academy, St Dominic’s High School for Girls, Stafford Grammar School and Wolgarston High School for a place in the county-wide final.
