Stone Town Council is set to mark St George’s Day with a free family event in the town centre on Saturday 25 April 2026.

Medieval knights, a town centre parade and a staged battle in Market Square are all part of the day, which has become a familiar fixture in Stone’s spring events calendar.
The event is due to begin with a parade at 12.30pm along the High Street to Market Square, led by St George himself. Children are invited to join in.
Families who want their children to take part in the parade are asked to meet at 12.20pm around the back of the Stone Town Council building on Station Road.
Once the parade reaches Market Square, the action is set to continue with a battle display as the Black Knight clashes with St George and his men in front of the crowd.

There will also be a chance for visitors to get a closer look at the weapons being used in the display and speak to the knights about them afterwards.
Alongside the combat display, the council is also planning a children’s medieval fancy dress competition. The theme is knights, damsels and dragons, with a £25 gift voucher on offer for the best costume.
That should add a bit more colour to the town centre on what is usually a busy Saturday in Stone, with the High Street and Market Square likely to draw families in for the afternoon.
Councillor Jill Hood, chair of the council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub Committee, said:
“Cheer for Saint George as he battles for England against the Black Knights in this popular event in the Market Square”.
The event is free to attend.
