A bottle of Joule’s Victory Ale from 1946 will go under the hammer on 3rd December along with other items collected by a former warehouse manager of the famous Stone brewery.
The specialist sale, which will contain over 200 lots, has been arranged by Penkridge auction house Cuttlestones in conjunction with Andrew Wilson of Tittensor’s Old School Wines.
The lot is made up of around 300 bottles that include fine and rare vintages of Claret, Sauternes, Burgundy, Vintage Port and Vintage Cognac, as well as rare Joule’s Commemorative Ales from the 1940s and the 1970s.
Andrew said: “It has been a joy to sort through this cellar and we’ve found some real gems from the 50s, 60s and 70s. The cellar was collated by a local gentleman who worked as a warehouse manager at Joule’s brewery in Stone, so there’s an added dimension of local interest.
“Perhaps the oldest and one of the most interesting bottles is a Joule’s Victory Ale, which was brewed in 1946, while the most recent bottles are from the mid-70s vintages.”
The Victory Ale bottle is expected to fetch between £30 and £50 on the night.
