Joule’s Brewery returned to their spiritual home to launch their latest seasonal ale – No.1 Joule’s Stone Ale – on Wednesday night (20th July).

The brewery – now based in Market Drayton but with its roots in Stone –  invited its tenants, customers and local suppliers to a preview evening of the new copper ale at Langtry’s in Stone – formerly The Bridge Inn, a Joule’s pub.

Langtry’s has been serving Joule’s ales since last year, so it was the perfect place to launch the new ale. The evening saw lots of sampling and an introduction to the beer from Neil Bain, brewery director at Joule’s. Stone mayor Jim Davies was also in attendance.

Joule’s Brewery introduced a seasonal ale collection back in 2013, adding to their core range of cask ales: Joule’s Pale Ale, Slumbering Monk and Pure Blonde.

Their latest season – No.1 Joule’s Stone Ale – is “a complex, copper-coloured ale created using no less than five English malts, including crystal rye, which when coupled with English and New Zealand hops, delivers a distinctive beer rich in fruit and spice character with a long dry finish’.

I was overwhelmed with the community support and it was fantastic to see publicans, sponsors and Joule’s friends joining us from across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire to celebrate the launch. No.1 Stone Ale is now available to order and will be on a Joule’s bar near you very soon.

“No.1 Stone Ale features two of my favourite hops, namely Motueka and Nelson Sauvin, both grown in Nelson, New Zealand which add spice, citrus and wine character to a delicious malty base. We hope you enjoy.[/box]
