A Stone man has invented a brand new game of balance and chaos – and the first competition will be taking place in the town later this month.
Steve Howe says Librium, which is already proving popular in pubs across Staffordshire, is like “the thinking man’s Buckaroo!”.
Librium involves placing ‘construction’ cards on to a pivotable base that is either mounted on a tripod or hung from a ‘hanger wire’ as shown in the photo above. The object of the game is to add the cards to each other in turn without collapsing the structure. No two games are the same and many large structures can be achieved with strategy, nerve and balance!
Steve said: “The game concept is quite simple really. If you can imagine cutting four strategic slots in all your credit cards and then inserting the card corners into the slots of other cards, all balanced on a tripod or a swinging pendulum, without collapsing the structure, you would pretty much have it.
“The game is really popular with groups of people and is great while enjoying a few drinks. So it’s no surprise that the first Librium competition will be held in a pub!”
The first Librium Team Challenge Cup will be held on Sunday 17th June at the Royal Exchange in Radford Street. Teams of four will be competing for the trophy and to win a bottle of Librium ale. Entry forms are available at www.libriumgames.co.uk and from the Royal Exchange.
