Photos/video: Record field takes on Stone 10k

Runners at the start of this year’s Stone 10k

Huge well done to every one of the 600 runners who took part in the Stone St Michael’s 10k road race today, and to everyone who lined the route to cheer them on in sweltering conditions.

The 20th Stone 10k, which is organised by Stone Master Marathoners and held as part of St Michael’s First School’s summer fair, attracted a record field this year and was won by Stone’s Ben Gamble in a time of 32:22. You’ll be able to see full results of all the categories HERE very soon.

Here’s a video of the start of the race…

This year, groups of youngsters from local schools and running clubs took part and completed the 10k in 2k relays. The relay event was won by youngsters from Stafford Harriers (pictured below) with teams from St Michael’s First School, Walton Priory School and Christ Church Academy also taking part – with apologies to the young runners from Walton Priory for missing them out when we first posted this article.

  • I would appreciate a link to my website if possible. So far I have upload 600 of 1,500 photos taken at the Stone St. Michael’s 10k.. I don’t charge runners to download their photos, any download if totally free. I am an injured runner, just trying to put something back into the Sport that I love.
Thanking you for your consideration. Kind regards., Bryan Dale.

    • Consider it done!

      • Thanks for that Jon.
I have now uploaded all my 1,500 photos taken at the Stone St. Michael’s 10k ~ 2014 onto my website https://www.racephotos.org.uk. These can now be viewed and downloaded totally free, no charge is made.
Can I also say hello through this Message Board to Jamie Summerfield (message above), we used to work together at Brownhills High School in Tunstall. Kind regards. Bryan Dale

  • Dear Sir/Madam.
i wonder if it would be possible to add our school onto the list of schools that took part in St Michael’s road race recently. We had five teams running in the race but our children were a bit disappointed that Walton Priory is not mentioned in the list of runners. Many thanks

    • Hi Julie. So sorry – my mistake. It’s been corrected now. Please let the children know, and say that Jamie from A Little Bit of Stone says sorry!
