‘Oatcakes and Milkshakes’ cafe opening in Stone

Footstep Oatcakes and Milkshakes

Freshly-made oatcakes, milkshakes and ice creams – what a combination! And they’ll all be served up at a new cafe opening in Stone soon.

‘Oatcakes and Milkshakes’ will be opening in the former Footstep shoe shop in Stafford Street. As well as freshly-made oatcakes on the premises, the cafe will also house a milkshake bar and ice cream parlour. There will also be home-made ‘stone stuffed’ burgers and American hot dogs, with daily specials depending on the season, including pulled pork baps, lobby and slow-cooked beef brisket.

After being open for a couple of weeks, ‘Oatcakes and Milkshakes’ will be offering free home delivery to all of Stone seven days a week. Opening times are set to be 6am to 4.30pm.

The business is a family affair, with owners Michelle and Steve Felgate and son Jay.

Jay told us: “My mum and dad bought the oatcake recipe and equipment back in 2009 and have been tweaking the recipe to get it to the standard we have now, and we’re sure everyone will love it. They have been saving up since 2009 but couldn’t find the right shop for what we needed until we came across the old Footstep unit, which is perfect. Value, quality and local produce are our main priorities and we are hoping to open the shop within the next couple of months, depending on the speed we get the work done.

“We really look forward to everyone joining us on our first ever business adventure and appreciate all of the great support we have had recently on A Little Bit of Stone’s Facebook page. We’ll soon be posting from our official Oatcakes and Milkshakes Facebook page with all the latest updates.”
