Prices come from the UK Government’s Fuel Finder service and are shown in pence per litre. Petrol stations are required to report a price change within 30 minutes of it taking effect.

A lower pump price does not always mean it is worth making a special journey. The distance travelled, your vehicle’s fuel consumption and whether you are already heading in that direction can easily outweigh a small saving per litre.

A Little Bit of Stone collects price information from Fuel Finder, the UK Government service bringing together fuel prices reported by petrol stations across the country.

Since February 2026, UK forecourts have been required to report petrol and diesel price changes to Fuel Finder within 30 minutes. The data is then made available to authorised websites and apps such as A Little Bit of Stone.

We regularly check the Government data and retain our own local price history. This allows us to show not just which Stone station is cheapest today, but increasingly how prices across the town are changing over time.

Prices should always be checked at the forecourt before buying fuel. If you spot a difference between the price shown here and the price being charged, the Government provides a service for reporting Fuel Finder discrepancies.

We are building a historical record of Stone’s fuel prices so that we can track increases and reductions over time.

As that history develops, we will be able to look at questions such as which local forecourts tend to move their prices first, how quickly other stations respond, how the gap between the cheapest and most expensive stations changes, and whether Stone follows wider fuel price trends.
