Stone’s Late Night Shopping Event a Success

Stone Town Council LogoStone Town Council’s late night shopping event was a resounding success last night

With a mixture of market stalls, rides, musical entertainment and late night opening for a lot of the town centre shops there was a nice buzz around the place as a steady stream of people wandered in to the town.

Here’s some of feedback from our Facebook page:

Barnaby: “Cheeky bit of retail”

Nina: ” Enjoyed our wander into town, thanks to the organisers X

Rachel: “Had a great time. Thank you the organisers

Linda: “Nice evening

Catherine: “Good to see so many shops taking part in this event. We need everyone to support the town every day not just on the special nights.

Nicky: ” it was great x

Lisa: ” Okay so I went; I took my children and invited a friend with her children. So many opportunities missed…..
If the children are happy and entertained the parents are happy and relaxed and have time to shop….. think Christmas switch on but it’s summer… cmon guys…. this isn’t rocket science…. disappointment that half the stands disappeared long before the 21:00 closure… thank goodness for Mr Symms; otherwise I would had some extremely unhappy children tonight…. pasta de piazza were excellent on every level though! Very family friendly…..

Lynne: “We went very early on as everyone was setting up…Nieve loved her face painting and fair ride …I loved a wander in the sunshine ..looking forward to the August one

Sandie from Baytree Fudge (Stall Holder): ” Baytree fudge had a brilliant night but sold out sorry for the early pack up ! 8:30 will definitely bring more stock for the next one ….. excellent organisation

Julia: “We had a nice wander around the stalls, listened to the band and a lovely meal at Little Seeds. Thank you to the organisers. Let’s all just keep doing our bit for our lovely town.

There is a second late night event scheduled for Thursday 17th August and there are still spaces available if you’d like to take a stall – https://alittlebitofstone.com/2017/06/14/stall-holders-wanted-late-night-shopping-event/

  • We thoroughly enjoyed the late night shopping event. It was very well organised and seem to attract a reasonable number of shoppers. For people like us who both work full time this was an ideal way to use the town. We went into 4 shops that we have never been in before and spent more money in the town in one night than we have in 6 months. It was a shame to see that some shops did not participate or they locked up early. They missed out on the people who arrived later. Flexible hours and events are the future for High Streets. Well done Stone Council. More please.
