Just weeks after being awarded the prestigious accolade of Nat West’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Paul Gill, Owner of restaurant furniture manufacturer Pure CF in Stone has been shortlisted for the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ in The Sentinel Business Awards.
Beating off strong competition from local entrepreneurs across North Staffordshire and South Cheshire, Executive Chairman, Paul Gill says:‘‘I feel very honoured to have been shortlisted in these prestigious awards and to be amongst so many amazing entrepreneurs in Staffordshire. Pure CF is in a period of rapid growth, we’ve already achieved so much – becoming one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of contract furniture. Having the vision to capitalise on the opportunity in front of you is impossible without the support of a great team around you – and I’m extremely fortunate to have the best workforce on the planet’’
Paul joined Cottage Furniture (as the company was then called) as its first employee and his enviable skill, hard work and determination meant that he quickly worked his way up through various roles from loading the delivery vans, upholstering the chairs to managing the sales function to eventually being offered the trusted position of general manager after just 18 years. He went on to buy the company to save it from falling into administration and has never looked back, winning The Sentinel’s Young Businessman of the Year Award in 2005, at aged 40.
The Sentinel’s Business Editor Laura James said: “This year, we received a record number of entries in The Sentinel Business Awards. We had more applicants than ever before. The judges had a hard job in deciding the finalists, but commented that they were pleased with the calibre and variety of applications. We are looking forward to revealing the winners at the awards ceremony in March.”
