Stone roundabout roadworks to begin next week

The busy A34/A51 Aston roundabout will see extensive roadworks over the next few months

Work will begin on Tuesdy 28th August to replace kerbs and improve the nearby footpaths and drains. This initial stage will take approximately a month to complete.

Following the initial phase on the 1st October a second month long phase will begin to resurface the roadway. These works will include full closures being put in place on Brooms Road and the A51 each night from 8pm to 6am. This phase of the scheme is due to end on November 2.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport Helen Fisher said:

“The Aston roundabout on the A34 is a busy junction and so this is an important improvement scheme. Initial works will see kerbs replaced and improvements to drains and footways.

“The main resurfacing works will take place at night in October so we’d ask people to bear this in mind and choose alternative routes if travelling into Stone on the A51 during these times. Work has been scheduled for night times to minimise disruption, but we’d like to thanks people for their patience during the works period.”

  1. Has anyone thought as to where the motorway traffic will go when both the M6 and the A51 roundabout are close on the evening of the 22/23rd September?
