Euro Garages plans to knock-down the Darlaston Inn, and Whacky Warehouse has been refused following a recent Stafford Borough Council planning meeting.
The plans had proposed for the former public house to be flattened and a new petrol forecourt, shop and drive-thru takeaway restaurant to be created on the roundabout island site.
When we published details of the plans in May 2018 (see our coverage about the plans here), there were large amounts of comments about the development. Concerns about petrol and take away contamination of the waterways, poor access to the roundabout site as well as the need for another petrol station so close to others already in the area. These issues were echoed in the official responses to the application, and there have been over six months of back and forth between the various agencies, planning departments and the applicant.
Although the planning application decision status has been updated to “Refusal”, the refusal notice hasn’t yet been filed on-line to see the reason for the decision.
We will update the story early next week when the planning portal is updated but are you happy with the decision? What should happen next to the site that’s been closed since March 2018?
