Polling cards for May’s local elections have started dropping through the letterboxes of Stone residents.
The last day to register to be able to take part in the elections is Monday 19 April and residents can find out how by going to www.staffordbc.gov.uk/how-do-you-register-to-vote
Electoral Returning Officer, Tim Clegg, who is the Chief Executive of the Borough Council, urged people to make sure they were registered to vote to take part in the elections.
“Electing councillors to represent you on local issues is really important as they will take key decisions on how services are provided across the county. You will also be asked to choose who you want as Staffordshire’s new Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.”
The role of the PFCC is to set the priorities for the police and fire services in Staffordshire – holding the chief officers to account.
He added “It only takes a few minutes to register online to vote and it is very straightforward. There will be a polling station near to wherever you live or you can have a postal vote.”
“There has been a tremendous amount of planning to ensure these elections can go ahead safely. We have a very experienced election team and our priority is that people will be able to exercise their democratic right to vote in a safe environment.”
The elections for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner did not go-ahead last year due to the pandemic.
