Help shape our election coverage – Stone Matters is back

Stone Matters

As we gear up for the 2025 Staffordshire County Council elections, we’re inviting our readers to get involved and help shape the questions we’ll be putting to local candidates.

Stone Matters is our way of making sure your voice is heard – and this year, we’re focusing on the things that matter most to the people who live, work, and run businesses in Stone.

What is Stone Matters?

A Little Bit of Stone will be engaging with candidates in three key divisions – Stone UrbanStone Rural North, and Stafford Trent Valley. Our goal is to give each candidate the chance to respond to a wide-ranging profile questionnaire that reflects the issues that matter to you.

These profiles will appear on our dedicated election website stones.vote and will help residents make informed decisions ahead of polling day on Thursday 1st May.

We won’t be running a hustings event this year – instead, we’ll focus on making sure our candidate profiles are shaped by real community input.

What sort of questions are we asking?

We’ll be inviting candidates to talk about who they are and why they’re standing, but we’ll also be asking them to respond to topics raised by you. From road repairs to school places, care services to transport – if it falls under County Council responsibility and it affects life in and around Stone, we want to know about it.

Our editorial team will group submissions into key themes and use them to shape the questions sent to every candidate, across all three divisions.

Who can take part?

If you live, work, study, or own a business in Stone, you’re welcome to take part. Whether you’re 16 or 86, your views matter – and we’ll be asking for age range info on the form so we can make sure we’re representing the full spread of opinions across our town.

How to get involved

Just fill in the short form below. We’ll be keeping the submission window open until Tuesday 1st April, giving us time to group responses ahead of the final candidate list being published on Thursday 3rd April.

Your voice. Your town. Your vote. Let’s make it count.

Your Age Range(Required)
We use this to analyse if certain issues are more important to certain age ranges.
