Appeal to users of Westbridge Park

Stafford Borough Council’s head of planning has appealed for sports and community groups that use Westbridge Park to get in touch.

The council’s consultation on its development plans for Westbridge will get under way soon but Ted Manders – the council’s head of planning – wants to make sure that any groups who use the green space are contacted directly.

He said: “We’re trying to get the consultation material out as soon as possible. We know which groups make bookings to use the park, as with the festivals and Bonfire Night, Guide and Scouts and canoe club, but could do with some local knowledge on which other groups use it informally.

“For instance, at the Alleyne’s meeting, mention was made of the marathon runners, who have since made contact with us. We could then make specific contact with such groups and clubs to consult on the proposals. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.”

  • Seems strange that Ted and the gang over at the borough council are making development plans for a park when they still do not know who is using it.

    • I think you are giving Ted and the Borough Council a diservice. Clearly it is impossible for the Borough Council to know every single group that uses the park, and to suggest otherwise would be ludicrous. Subsequently, they are seeking all users of the park to contact them to ensure that all voices can be heard. Surely, this is a democratic way to act.

The fact that the Borough Council are asking for all clubs to get in touch is so they can be consulted regarding any potential plans for the park. • I agree Carl. I’m sure the BC know all the formal groups that use the WBP, however there maybe informal groups that use WBP which the BC have no way of finding out without asking the question. Good on the BC for being so thorough and ensuring that it consults with as many as people as it possibly can.
