Stone MP Bill Cash is holding a public meeting on the planned HS2 phase two route at Stone station community building at 11am on Saturday 9th February.

Our MP set out his “grave concerns” about the route of the HS2 second phase through Staffordshire – which passes close to Walton Heath, Darlaston and Swynnerton in Stone – at a public meeting at Swynnerton Park Cricket Club last weekend. Over 250 people are said to have attended that meeting.

The proposed route of HS2 phase two was announced at the end of January. More details HERE.

Mr Cash said after the route had been revealed: “There has been no previous public consultation on this proposed new development. It is a cause for grave concern that the proposed route runs through my constituency. I will be taking every possible action to oppose this in the light of public consultation.”

The Government says the new rail link is needed to cut journey times, ease overcrowding and boost regional business.
