Pupils’ art takes centre stage at festival

It wasn’t just music at the Stone Music and Arts Festival earlier this month. Pupils from Christchurch Academy held an exhibition of their work at Tylman of Stone in Granville Square.

And two master craftsmen from the Wedgwood Visitor Centre – the main festival sponsors – demonstrated their skills at Tylman over the festival weekend.

Jon French – master potter and hand painter – demonstrated delicate hand painting on to fine bone china. Fellow hand painter Gary Derricott demonstrated a skill known as ‘pate sur pate’, which involves painting clay on to clay.
