They cut the top from the Vauxhall Corsa to get him out as a precaution when he complained of back pains. His injuries, thankfully, are not thought to be too serious.

A Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesmen said: “Crews from Stone, Crewe and Longton were called to the scene to extradite a casualty from a silver saloon car after ambulance crews requested their presence at 17:43pm, Monday 27th January. One male casualty was taken by land ambulance to hospital for further treatment. Fire crews left the scene at 18:29pm.”

Although icy conditions are not believed to have caused the accident on Monday, the spokesman urged drivers that cold and icy conditions over the next weeks can cause dangerous conditions on the roads and to take more time in your journey and drive with more care and attention to prevent accidents.
