A Stoke City fan from Stone is going the extra mile for his beloved club – well, an extra 24,000 to be exact!
Andy Rushton is urging British astronaut Tim Peake to take a Stoke City banner with him when he goes to the International Space Station in November – and to tweet a photo of it back to planet Earth.
Andy – @jollyhappybore on Twitter – has been using the social network to build the campaign, and has had replies from the astronaut that this is something he could be willing to do.
Andy has also been creating fun claymation animations to boost his campaign further and Stone singer-songwriter – and fellow Potters fan – Ben Owen is even in the process of recording a campaign jingle.
Andy said: “I’ve been campaigning – some say harrassing! – to get Tim Peake to do this for a few months now and it’s been brilliant to get responses from him and to see the campaign building. Surely, once he sends that photo, it will lift Stoke City from being a global club to an intergalactic one, sending us up and beyond every other club on the planet!”
Andy says the UK Space Program has no objections to a Stoke City banner being taken into outer space.
You can keep up to date with the campaign by following Andy on Twitter, or the #letsgetstokeinspace hashtag, as well as the Let’s Get Stoke in Space YouTube channel.
Good luck Andy!
