Anna West, a member of Stone and Eccleshall Girlguiding, has been selected to be part of the International Service Team which will be helping to look after some 42,000 scouts and guides from around the world this summer at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree, which is being held in Japan’s Yamaguchi City.
Four years ago, Anna – aged 21 – represented Midlands Girlguiding at the WSJ, Sweden, as a participant.
Anna said: “I enjoyed the experience so much, I wanted to give something back to Scouting and Girlguiding. It was truly an amazing experience, and a life-changing one.”
Anna has been told to expect long working days, high temperatures and high humidity. Nonetheless, she is really looking forward to the challenge. She will also have the opportunity to visit Tokyo and Hiroshima after the Jamboree.
