There’s a packed day of racing and fun for all the family at Sandon Races on Easter Saturday, 4th April.
The North Staffordshire Hunt will be hosting their annual Point-to-Point meeting at the Sandon Estate just outside Stone. Gates open at 11am and the first of seven races gets under way at 1pm, with the last at 5pm. The first race – the Hunt Members, Subscribers and Farmers Race – will be hotly contested again this year between the North Staffordshire Hunt and the Meynell & South Staffordshire Hunt.
There will be entertainment both on and off the track, and the day is tailored for all ages with a selection of stalls, refreshments, a funfair and a bar. Racegoers can also take their own picnics to enjoy whilst watching the racing action from the grassy banks, which form a unique and natural amphitheatre.
Point-to-Point secretary Sandra Nield said: “Sandon Races is a highlight of the area’s social and sporting calendar, with several thousand attending annually. It is a fantastic day out for racing fans and families alike, with something for everyone to enjoy on the day. A must for everyone over the Easter holidays.”
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service will be attending as well as Midlands Air Ambulance who will be bringing their decommissioned helicopter. Race-goers are invited to learn more about their fantastic work and to donate to the Sandon Races ‘favourite’ charity.
A Silent Auction is also being held with some fantastic prizes such as a seven-night horse-back safari to Botswana kindly donated by Ride Botswana and Uncharted Africa & a collectable signed photograph of champion jockey AP McCoy with Cheltenham Gold Cup winning horse Sycnchronised.
Entry is £30 per car for two or more occupants, or £15 for a car with single occupancy. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads at all times.
