Six-year-old Barney Stannard raised £400 for his school’s new library fund by running the Trentham 5k road race.
The PTA at Barney’s school – Oulton First – has been raising money since last September to deliver a modern library for pupils. Barney decided he wanted to raise some money himself – and he certainly did this in style. Barney is a huge Dr Who fan and dressed as David Tennant’s Doctor for the race last month, with dad Paddy going for Matt Smith’s incarnation. And they won the first prize for fancy dress
Mum Becky said: “I’m extremely proud of him but never expected him to raise this much. He’s done so well. I’m making the most of all this before he becomes a lazy teenager!”
