Part of Newcastle Road in Stone will be closed for two months to allow utility works for the new development at Meaford Business Park.
Newcastle Road will be closed to traffic from the A34, with diversions in place, although Staffordshire County Council says access for householders on Newcastle Road will be maintained throughout the works.
The works are due to start on Monday 26th October (the first day of the school half-term break) and are scheduled to be completed by Friday 18th December.

Work has been ongoing at Meaford since May to build a new roundabout on the A34 and to lay new utilities up Meaford Road to the new business park. From 26th October, utilities will be laid along the A34 to Newcastle Road, completing the provision of services to Meaford Business Park.
A letter from Staffordshire County Council civil engineer Mark Snape to residents in Newcastle Road says:
[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” ]The planned work on Newcastle Road involves the excavation of trenches to install new service pipes/ducts from the junction with the A34 for a distance of approximately 130 metres.[/box]
[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” ]To carry out these works safely, part of the road needs to be closed to traffic and a temporary one-way system will be in operation. This will start in the vicinity of house number 213 and finish at the A34 roundabout, preventing any vehicles from accessing Newcastle Road from the roundabout. All road users wanting to access Newcastle Road will need to follow the signed diversion route via the A34. Access to frontages on Newcastle Road will be maintained.[/box]
[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” ]It is important that the services are installed now to mitigate future disruption and to allow construction of the first units on Meaford Business Park to commence in readiness for occupation.[/box]
When completed, Meaford Business Park is expected to create around 2,200 jobs. The roadworks at Meaford are designed to ease congestion from the extra traffic and improve access from the A34 to the business park. The Meaford Business Park roadworks as a whole are due to be completed in May 2016.
