£1m extension work under way at Mansion House Surgery

Mansion House Surgery

Work on the £1 million extension to Mansion House Surgery in Stone has now started.

The build will include a two-storey extension to the east of the existing building and will include a new extended waiting area, lobby and reception to the front as well as internal refurbishment. The result will provide the surgery with an additional six new consulting rooms at ground floor, a new examination room and improved and increased staff admin and welfare facilities.

The new extension will be able to accommodate more people, necessary with the increasing demand from people moving into the town in the new housing developments. In May, there will be an additional advanced nurse practitioner and practice pharmacist starting to take on some of the work that is not necessarily required to be done by a GP.

The build is expected to take just over six months and during this time there will be considerable disruption to the surgery. One of the car parks has had to be given to the contractor for the construction site, but ultimately there will be an additional 22 spaces once the extension is complete.

[box type=”shadow” ]Anne-Marie Mountford, assistant practice manager, said: “We would ask all visitors to the surgery that if they can, leave their cars and walk to the surgery or park elsewhere. The main entrance to the surgery has been changed temporarily while the building work takes place and all visitors are directed to the entrance up the ramp at the right-hand side as you face the surgery. The surgery would ask that people take care and follow the clearly displayed signs around the site and report anything to reception that does not look safe. We look forward to having additional facilities to offer to our patients in the autumn.”[/box]
