Teachers have joined officers and PCSOs on the beat to help further reduce anti-social behaviour in Stone.
Deputy head of Alleynes High School, Tony Hall, and deputy head of Walton Priory Middle School, Nicky Gilman, joined officers on patrol recently. Through the Safer Schools Partnership, schools and police work closely together.
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Duncan Rollo said: “There was no doubt that there was a look of surprise from some of the youngsters when they saw their deputy headteachers walking with us during the evening.
“The deputy headteachers also had the opportunity of seeing the interaction between police and the local youngsters. There were no incidents of anti-social behaviour reported to police during this time.”
Commander of Stone neighbourhood policing unit, Inspector Carl Humphries, said: “We explore new and innovative ways to help further reduce anti-social behaviour in our communities. This initiative allows young people to see that schools work closely with the police and that anti-social behaviour is not acceptable. Staff from all of the town’s schools will from time to time go out with police.”
Teachers from Christchurch Middle school will join officers on patrol soon.
