Two races were scheduled for the weekend but torrential rain and thunderstorms meant the first race of the weekend was scrapped, leaving just the final race of the season for Rob to take the championship.

Johnston, driving a self-developed 1988cc Cyana Mk2, started the race in 5th place just behind rival Booth, and made a good start in the first couple of laps, however a mistake at the Melbourne Hairpin resulted in a trip through the gravel trap, and a drop down to 7th place.

A spirited drive back by Johnston to fourth place by the end of 15 minute race was not enough to deprive Booth of the championship, who clinched the title by 3 points.

Johnston had a good season overall, with wins at Oulton Park, Croft and Snetterton but this was not enough over the reduced 13 race season.
