Saturday, September 22 2018 saw the bi-annual Family Day at Pirehill Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service welcome thousands of people to its headquarters.
A host of activities and demonstrations were on offer to entertain members of the community. Staff and firefighters also shared
important fire safety messages throughout the day.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer Rob Barber said: “We could not be more thrilled with how well the day went and we were pleased to welcome so many people to our headquarters site. We would like to thank everyone, more than 4,000 of you, who came along and made the day so special.
“Staff and firefighters spoke to thousands of people, giving potentially life-saving advice while the public enjoyed all the attractions from face painting to sitting on the trucks, along with some delicious food and fun games. Seeing the joy of those we serve is so rewarding but we also managed to raise around £3,000 (we’re still counting!) for good causes that are close our hearts, such as the Fire fighters Charity.
“We are really happy with how the day went despite the mixed weather and hopefully we can top it at the next one in 2020.”
