Register to Vote – Deadline Friday 12th April 2019

The deadline for registration to make sure you can have your say in the Borough and Parish elections is Friday 12th April.

Polling cards have already been landing on the doorsteps across Stone for the elections on Thursday 2nd May.

Returning Officer, Tim Clegg, the Chief Executive of Stafford Borough Council, is urging residents not to miss out on the chance to vote.

“Democracy is something you only miss when it is not there. Taking part in these elections gives you the opportunity to say how your local councils are run.

“Local councils carry out a large number of important services and functions such as your household waste collection and keeping the streets clean. We take care of parks and open spaces, make decisions on where buildings can and cannot be built, run a crematorium and cemeteries and work to prevent people from being homeless.

“Time is now running out to be able to have a say on who will be making decisions on your behalf so I’d encourage everyone to register if they have not already.”

He added: “Our message is simple: you can’t vote, if you aren’t registered by Friday 12 April.  It’s easy to do and will only take a few minutes online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.”
