Pirehill’s marathon fundraising effort

On Monday 15th July, all pupils and staff at Pirehill First School will be completing the final mile of what is equivalent of a marathon (26.2 miles) walked or ran since Easter over three days a week.

With  two members of staff battling cancer right now, almost 300 children age between four and nine will be pushing themselves to complete the epic distance in aid of Cancer Research, a cause which is obviously very close to the Pirehill Family’s heart.

Each pupil and staff member will receive a special medal for completing the event. A fundraising target of £1,000 has been set which we are hoping we can raise by the end of the school year. In addition, around 50 staff, families and friends are participating in a 5k mud run in September to enhance the fundraising.

Walmsley’s Warriors are all set to go and so far have raised over £1,200 for Cancer Research, they are running in the name of Louise Walmsley who teaches at Pirehill (previously at St.Michaels and other schools in Staffordshire) who is undergoing treatment for the disease.
