In a celebration of classic seaside holidays, Sandon Village Fete will this year include a special Sandon by the Sea theme on Saturday 10th August 2019 starting at 1.00 pm.
Donkeys rides and Punch and Judy will be on hand to entertain, along with the 1949 open backed double decker bus selling tickets for a ride. Meet crafts people and watch them working, taste the home-made chutneys, buy bespoke jewellery or get that special gift. Drop in at the White Elephant or book stall – there are always plenty of bargains, or you can ride a train and listen to fairground organ.
Keeping up with the theme of vintage: The Way We Wore and JP Interior Retail are bringing their vintage items for sale. Come and play Ferret Roulette run by Staffordshire Wildlife Rescue Centre in Sandon. There should be lots of vintage/classic vehicles in the Transport Show to wander around too, the websitefor the Transport show is https://sa9904.wixsite.com/sandonfete.
Sit and relax in the atmosphere of the Refreshments Marquee, enjoying home-made cakes, sandwiches, tea and coffee whilst listening to the Florence Colliery Brass Band. Grand Raffle – tickets are available through our normal outlets – lots of prizes to be won.
Windmill Broadcasting is keeping everyone informed and Lisa Fairy is coming to do her face painting. Trophy Dog Food is sponsoring the dog show – bring your faithful hounds and enter them in the classes. Slaters are sponsoring the pop-up bar and there will be a selection of gins to try.
This year the fete is supporting Midlands Air Ambulance, RABI (The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution) and Sandon Village Church. They will each be having a stand to promote themselves and tell you what their current projects are and where the proceeds will be going from the fete.
Unfortunately there will not be a Horticultural Show this year but if there is someone out there who would like to organise one for next year then please get in touch with organisers.
