Review: The Exorcist at The Regent Theatre

Right from the moment we stepped foot into the theatre, The Exorcist created a chilling feel with the use of music and sounds playing throughout the auditorium.

The show is based on the classic horror movie, and it does, in fact, feature the classic 360 head spin that had the audience on the edge of their seats, some people maybe even wanting to make a run for it.

The story follows a girl named Regan who becomes possessed after she finds a Ouija board in the attic of her house. The acts she commits become increasingly scarier as the show progresses and that alone was enough to completely capture our attention.

The set was immediately something that our attention was drawn to as it was a large dark house that almost seemed to be impossible to not want to explore. Though it was obviously lit up during scenes, the darkness still lurked around the hallways visible and kept the element of mystery.

Sophie WardThe reason people go to see a horror at the theatre is to be scared, and this show does not disappoint. With the set, lighting, costumes, and even down to the tiniest details like the curtains of Regan’s bedroom blowing in the wind, this show was almost the definition of the word horror, and it is definitely a must-see for any horror fanatics looking for a scary night at the theatre.

Perfectly, the show was finished with a feature of the classic Exorcist Theme that I’m sure is the first thing most people think of when they hear a mention of the film.

Every member of the cast was incredible and delivered a performance that I definitely won’t be forgetting in a hurry, and I’m sure everybody else in the theatre would say the same thing.

The Exorcist is at The Regent Theatre until October 5th, so make sure to catch it before it leaves. Call the box office on 0844 871 7649 or visit https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/the-exorcist/regent-theatre/
