The Movie Maverick’s bring back Catalyst Film Festival

Wednesday the 15th of April will see the second Catalyst Film Festival at the Hanley Potteries Museum with a one day event exploring the topic of Utopia.

At this current time in our world we drop everything to ask what forms our own idea of utopia? Perfection, equality and justice evolve with the time, place and people producing these ideas. Utopia, or this idea of a better world has to be constantly reworked or re-imagined- it is a conversation not a blueprint. The festival aim to explore this conversation through 2 hours of international and local film submissions.

Two winners will be selected by a jury and receive a prize. This night will be jam-packed with entertainment ranging from local craft stalls to spoken word and circus hula hoop performance.

The event runs from 6PM -10.30PM and the museum has a capacity of 400 seats.

Extra entertainment:

  • Lune Jayne – Hula hoop Performance
  • Spoken word- Joseph Martin and Ben McDonald-Evans
  • DJ- Jon Rickett
  • Stalls- Beckie Kremer, Chloe Parker and Molly Bowyer
  • Exhibitors –Leah Wood, Leah-May Sanders and Theo Harry Zoumides
  • Film Spokeswoman – Rachel Dax

There are two prize categories on offer, the director’s choice is selected from both international and local films, the prize for this is £100. The Lovelocal award is strictly focusing on local submissions, the prize for this will be a Samsung sound bar and VR head set, all worth £100.
