School’s Update from Councillor Jill Hood

County Councillor Jill Hood has been in touch to ask us to share the following in relation to access to school places during the Covid-19 pandemic.

If at least one parent is a key worker, you can send your child to school, that was the Government directive.

There seems to be confusion around this as it’s not an automatic entitlement and sadly, I’ve been informed (in my role as County Councillor) there are some parents who have one named key worker with the partner at home who either doesn’t want to look after their child or just can’t be bothered and are still sending their child to school.

This reckless attitude is not only endangering the lives of the children and staff who have no choice but to be in school, it’s also risking the lives of their own children too.

Please for all our sakes if possible, keep your child at home, but if you have no choice other than to send your child to school you can be certain school staff are doing everything in their power to keep your children safe and well.
