Two day road closure planned for A34 Aston to Stafford

The A34 stretch between Aston roundabout and Redhill roundabout is due to be closed for two days starting  28th May 2020.

Staffordshire County Council highways team will be working with Amey and Road Maintenance Services Ltd to carry out preventative carriageway maintenance.

Closure 1 – A34 North bound (679 KB)
Closure 2 – A34 South bound (679 KB)

To minimise the duration and disruption, the council have stepped up resources significantly to carry out the works, which are programmed to last approximately two days, however the operation is dependant on the weather conditions – so may take longer.

Full road closures will be in operation for the duration, with the Northbound and Southbound carriageways closed one at a time. Variable message signs will be displayed on site to advise and update motorists as works progress. Temporary lane closures will also be used as required. The only traffic which will be allowed through the works are bus services, emergency vehicles and access to frontages.

Staffordshire County Council advise the following to minimise disruption:

  • Please keep children away from the works to ensure their safety.
  • Please drive appropriately through the works.
  • Please adhere to the road closures and follow the signed diversions.
  • Check your shoes before entering your property or car to make sure there is no bitumen from the works.

For further information, or for any questions about the work or concerns about how the work is being carried out, please visit the councils websites for enquiries or roadworks.
