A new day nursery is preparing to open its doors in Stone this spring.
Flourish Montessori Day Nursery is due to open in May 2026 at Unit 2a Diamond Way, Stone Business Park, ST15 0SD, bringing what it describes as the town’s first authentic Montessori setting.
Led by a family-run team, the nursery will provide full day care for children aged from six weeks to five years. It will operate Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm, for 51 weeks of the year.
A different approach to early years
The owner and director said the idea for Flourish came from a belief that early childhood education in Stone could offer something more intentional.
“Montessori education has not previously been available in Stone, and we wanted to change that.
“We recognised how powerful these early years are in shaping confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning, and set out to create a nursery that is calm, purposeful and built entirely around the needs of the child.”
The Montessori approach focuses on child-led learning within a carefully prepared environment. Rather than directing children through activities, practitioners support them to explore and master skills at their own pace.
From infancy, children are encouraged to develop movement, coordination and language. As they grow, the emphasis shifts towards practical life skills, concentration, emotional regulation and problem solving.
The nursery says it will combine this educational model with healthy, freshly prepared meals and additional enrichment experiences. It will also offer funded childcare for eligible families and says it will provide strong SEND support and individualised care.
Why Stone
The owner and director said Stone was chosen because of its growing number of young families and ongoing housing development.
“We chose Stone because it is a growing community full of young families, yet without access to authentic Montessori education.
“With significant housing development and increasing demand for childcare, we saw a clear need for something distinctive and high quality.”
The premises at Diamond Way have been designed as a purpose-built space, with a calm interior and secure outdoor area. Being based at Stone Business Park also places the nursery within easy reach of the A34 and surrounding estates.
As well as preparing to welcome children, Flourish is looking to recruit Early Years practitioners. Montessori training is not required at the outset, with accredited training provided in-house.
The nursery is also keen to build links with local businesses and community organisations, particularly those offering family-focused services or extracurricular activities.
Opening event planned
A special opening event is planned, with a confirmed date to be announced. Families will be invited to tour the setting, meet the team and see Montessori materials in use.
Parents who secure a place on the day will have their £100 registration fee waived.
