Parents in Stone will soon have a new childcare option, and one that takes a slightly different approach to early education.
Flourish Montessori Day Nursery is preparing to open at Stone Business Park in May 2026, bringing what will be the town’s first nursery built around the Montessori method of learning.
The new setting will welcome children from six weeks to five years old and will operate Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm, 51 weeks of the year, offering extended childcare for working families alongside a carefully structured early education.
But what makes Flourish distinctive is not just the hours it offers – it is the philosophy behind how children learn.
Learning through doing
Walk into a Montessori classroom and it feels calm, purposeful and thoughtfully organised.
Instead of brightly coloured plastic toys everywhere, you might see children pouring water from small jugs, carefully sorting objects on trays, preparing their own snack or working quietly with hands-on materials that introduce early maths and language concepts.
The focus is simple: helping children learn by doing things themselves.
The team behind Flourish say independence sits at the heart of the Montessori approach.
“Montessori is a beautiful, child-centred approach to education that recognises the extraordinary potential of the first five years of life.
“Rather than directing children, we carefully prepare an environment that allows children to explore, concentrate and master skills independently.”
In practice this might mean a toddler learning how to carry a drink carefully across the room, or a three-year-old becoming deeply focused while working with shapes and materials that introduce early mathematical thinking.
To an adult it may look simple, but each activity is carefully designed to develop coordination, concentration and confidence.
The aim is not simply childcare, but a place where children feel secure, capable and excited to learn each day.
Why bring Montessori to Stone?
The decision to open the nursery in Stone was shaped by the town’s growing number of young families.
“We chose Stone because it is a thriving community full of young families, yet without access to authentic Montessori education.
“With significant housing development and increasing demand for childcare, we saw a clear need for something distinctive and high quality.”
Until now, families interested in Montessori education have often needed to travel outside the town to find a setting that follows the approach closely.

Flourish aims to bring that internationally respected educational philosophy directly to local families.
A purpose-built nursery designed for children
The new nursery is being developed at Stone Business Park and has been designed specifically for early years learning.
The setting will provide a calm, carefully prepared environment with natural Montessori materials, experienced Early Years practitioners and qualified Montessori teachers guiding children through hands-on learning experiences.
Children will also benefit from healthy meals prepared on site, enriching extracurricular activities and strong SEND support to ensure every child receives the care and attention they need to thrive.
As a family-run nursery, the team say building strong relationships with parents is central to what they do.
“Our goal is to create a place where children feel safe, capable and deeply valued, and where parents feel confident that their child is receiving a meaningful start to their education.”

As a purpose-built Montessori nursery with carefully maintained staff-to-child ratios, places will be limited and early interest from families across Stone has already been strong.
With Montessori education arriving in Stone for the first time, the nursery aims to offer families something both practical and inspiring: High-quality childcare combined with an educational approach designed to help children grow in confidence, independence and curiosity from the very start.
For parents seeking a calm, thoughtful and high-quality start to their child’s early education, Flourish hopes to become a distinctive new addition to the Stone community.
Parents can register their interest and join the enquiry list ahead of the May 2026 opening.
