Mountford’s gives Stone shoppers a Sunday DIY option

Mountford’s in Stone is now opening on Sundays, giving residents a handy town centre option for DIY, gardening, decorating and household essentials without heading out to Stafford or Stoke-on-Trent.

The long-standing Lichfield Street business will open every Sunday from 10am to 2pm, making it easier for local people to pick up what they need for weekend jobs around the home and garden.

For anyone halfway through a decorating project, missing a fitting, planning a garden tidy up, or needing practical advice before starting a job, the new Sunday opening means there is now another reason to stay local.

Mountford’s has also recently extended its gardening range and paint range, adding to the broad mix of hardware, DIY, home maintenance and household products already available in the shop.

The business has been part of Stone town centre for decades and is well known locally for practical stock, helpful service and product knowledge. Its town centre location also means shoppers can call in without making a separate trip to a larger retail park or out of town DIY store.

Mountford’s was previously featured in A Little Bit of Stone’s Hidden Gems of Stone series, which looked at the shop’s long history, family roots and place in the town’s retail life.

The Sunday opening has been introduced to make shopping locally easier for customers who may not be able to visit during the week, or who find they need something for a weekend job.

Mountford’s is based at 9 Lichfield Street, Stone.

Sunday opening hours are 10am to 2pm.
