Community bookshelf project invites Stone residents to paint their own story

A free community art project is inviting people in Stone to paint a book spine that tells the story of their own life, memories, hopes and dreams.

The Community Bookshelf Project, run by Love Light and Lemonade in collaboration with Stone Library and the National Year of Reading, starts at Stone Library on Saturday 9 May.

The drop in sessions will run from 10am to 12pm over three Saturdays, with the final session taking place on Saturday 23 May.

Participants will be asked to create their own “story spine”, with each painted book spine offering a glimpse into the artist’s personal journey. The finished pieces will then be brought together to create a community bookshelf display at Stone Library.

Organisers say the project is open to the whole community and offers a chance to meet new people, share experiences, make new friendships, and enjoy a creative activity together.
