Stone church to host big family singalong with Florence Brass Band

Florence Brass Band is inviting people in Stone to warm up their vocal cords for a family singalong at St Michael and St Wulfad Church this autumn.

The community brass band will bring its All Together Now event to the church on Saturday 10 October, with an evening of familiar songs where joining in is very much encouraged.

The event runs from 6.30pm to 9pm, with lyrics provided so there is nothing for audience members to learn beforehand.

Those who would rather listen are equally welcome, while refreshments will also be available during the evening.

Dave Chapman, Musical Director of Florence Brass, said

“This is not a sit still and be quiet sort of concert. We want people singing, and we want families in the room. If you know the words, brilliant. If you don’t, we will put them in front of you.”

Florence Brass is based in Longton and performs across Staffordshire, Cheshire and Shropshire, with music ranging from traditional brass band pieces to film and television themes, pop and big band numbers.

Stone audiences may already recognise the band from previous performances in the town, including its recent appearance as part of the summer programme of live music.

Tickets for the October singalong cost £10 for adults and £6 for children and can be bought in advance through the Florence Brass ticket page or on the door, subject to availability.

Proceeds from the evening will be shared equally between St Michael and St Wulfad Church and Florence Brass.

The band also welcomes new players, including beginners, and rehearses on Wednesday evenings at Florence Sports and Social Club in Longton.
